"We were recommended Spencer’s work by a mutual friend. We initially employed Spencer to repair and paint a front door in our Victorian terrace house in Wells, Somerset. It was a simple job by Spencer's standards but really important to us. Spencer was on time, polite, professional, hard working and more importantly he did a fantastic job. We stayed in touch and when we were in the process of buying our next house Spencer was kind enough to see the house with us to assess its condition, discuss renovation plans, the costs and time frames. Upon purchasing the house we employed Spencer again to do our external painting, internal painting and install our oak flooring. Spencer has great attention to detail and he visited the house weeks in advance to talk about the work, what materials were best suited to the job, suitable suppliers etc, he recommended Farrow & Ball and Mylands paints and even supplied colour charts. The external render paint I chose was from Keim from Germany. This is not widely used in the UK and the application process is slightly different to traditional render paints. Spencer researched the specifications in depth to ensure he got it right first time. He did a fantastic job. Our internal painting was less straight forward because we have a 3.5m high vaulted ceiling in 3 rooms. Spencer was able to work around the issues left by the plasterers and create an excellent straight line between the walls and ceilings (which have contrasting colours). The final job Spencer did was the installation of our engineered oak flooring. Again I chose a relatively new system called Elastilon - the oak planks adhere to a self adhesive underlay (no glue, no nails). Spencer researched the installation process by reading specification sheets and watching videos. He was able to lay 40sqm of underlay and oak flooring in just 2 days… and it looks absolutely fantastic. Spencer has decades of experience in decorating, joinery and building. He is a high quality craftsman who has a very detailed approach as he considers all of the implications in a job.
